Look at the Birds
Matthew 6:26: “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
When the anxieties of life are above and behind,
When stress and doubts are all that you find,
When life makes you worry, when life gives you sorrow,
When you feel you can no longer face tomorrow,
When life overwhelms you so you have no more words,
Jesus tells us: “Look at the birds.”
When the present is confusing, the future so bleak,
When situations make your faith seem small and weak,
When in life’s journey, you feel tested and tried,
When you begin to doubt the One who provides
When uncertainties make you feel your prayers aren’t heard,
Jesus tells us: “Look at the birds.”
The birds do not sow, nor do they gather or reap,
Yet God gives them their food; He gives them their sleep.
Why then do you worry? Are you not of more value?
If God cares for the birds, would He not care for you?
He will provide in abundance; He promises in His word.
Take courage, my friend, and look at the birds.
Find comfort in His blessings; find life in His peace.
Cast your cares upon Him; let your doubts and worries cease.
Seek first His kingdom; find rest in His care.
Trust in His promises; draw nearer in prayer.
Take joy in His goodness; sing a song that will be heard.
Soar in His mercy; trust in Him like the birds!
